McNEESE STATE UNIVERSITY
All participants are required to participate in Upward Bound academic sessions, tutorials, and workshops. There is also participation required by the parents of participants for special events or workshops. Participants earn stipends throughout the year for maintaining good academic standing, maintaining good behavior, and attending sessions or events.
Students who complete all requirements of the program have the opportunity to earn stipends during the Academic Year Component and a stipend at the end of the Summer Component. All other expenses are paid by Upward Bound which includes admissions to events, meals, provision and transportation for field trips. The Summer Bridge Scholarship pays for tuition, fees, and supplies up to 7 credit hours.
The summer component and Saturday workshops are held on the McNeese campus. Students participate in activities such as museum tours, plays, festivals, college and career fairs, community service, and other educational and cultural awareness activities. In addition, students receive information through workshops on topics such as study skills, financial aid, standardized test preparation, and scholarship opportunities. Juniors and seniors receive fee waivers for the ACT tests.

Ms. Anna Grace Bizzle is an Academic Advisor for the College of Nursing and Health Professions. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees in Secondary Education from Mississippi State University. Her favorite part of advising at McNeese is being a resource for students as they get used to the expectations of college and helping students pursue their degrees at such a wonderful school.
