Dr. Steve Thompson started his public service career in 1996 with the US Army. He served a one year deployment in Bosnia on a peace keeping mission with the United Nations. He left military service to begin a career with the Louisiana state police where he served in numerous roles, including patrol, plain clothes, SWAT, and undercover assignments. Steve left the LSP after achieving his PhD and became a professor at McNeese. Steve is a police academy instructor, member of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office aviation unit, and a member of the Parapokes skydiving team. He is passionate about fighting human trafficking and protecting the weak.
