W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts

Join a dynamic community of musicians, actors and artists collaborating to provide first-class arts and entertainment to both the students of McNeese and the citizens of Southwest Louisiana. Performing Arts students benefit from the individual attention that a welcoming and student-centered learning environment provides. Whether as a major, a minor, or via our wide selection of classes open to all McNeese students, we encourage you to join us!

Music Program

Our internationally recognized faculty is committed to the art of teaching and preparing our students for a rewarding career in the arts. We offer a variety of concentrations in both music performance and music education, while providing all students a wealth of performance opportunities including small and large ensembles, dramatic productions and individual recitals. Find out more about our university bands, including "The Pride of McNeese" Cowboy Marching Band.

Theatre Program

The W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts is also home to the McNeese theatre program. Theatre majors receive hands-on experience in all aspects of a theatrical production, from backstage technical design to on-stage direction and performances. Each year students are given the opportunity to work with world-class guest artists and industry professionals. Find out more about our upcoming theatre season.
