Dr. Jarrette K. Allen earned his undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University (BA – French), and graduate degrees from Louisiana State University (MA – French Studies) and Tulane University (MA, PhD – Linguistic Anthropology). He has taught at almost every educational level, in the US, France, and the Philippines. On the university level, he teaches courses for the department in both French Studies and Advanced English Grammar and has also taught courses and seminars internationally on language documentation and endangerment. His research interests include the obituary circular letters of the Ursulines in Old and New France, collaborative research in language documentation, lexicological software, and religious education among indigenous peoples.
