Dr. Elizabeth (Ellie) Wroten holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Sciences from the University of Delaware, as well as an M.S. in HDFS and a bachelor’s degree in human services with a concentration in administration and family policy, also from UD. Her major research interests include gerontology, thanatology, and medical sociological topics, as well as emerging adulthood, parenting, and various other topics pertaining to relationships and sex. She is currently launching a project on cancer previvorship and its impact on families. In addition to publishing her work in a variety of avenues, she maintains active roles in the LAUNCH laboratory, which is dedicated to the transition to college from the perspective of emerging adult college students and their parents, as well as the AI-Based Relationship Laboratory, which explores various platonic, romantic, and sexual relationships with AI-based partners. Her work has been presented in several professional avenues such as the annual conferences of the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), the Groves Conference on Marriage and Family, and the Southern Sociological Society.
