Professor Kevin McIntyre

Kevin McIntyre began playing the trumpet in the fourth grade at Fisher Elementary School in Ewing Township New Jersey.

In 1979, during his 10th grade year, Kevin moved to Moss Bluff, Louisiana and began playing the horn at Sam Houston High School.

After graduation, Kevin attended McNeese State University and got a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance. His primary teachers were Robert Tucker, Jessica Connavino, and Mike Ewald.

In 1989 and 1990 Kevin attended Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois and got a Masters Degree in Horn Performance. His primary teacher was Dale Clevenger Principal Horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

After graduation, Kevin moved to Houston Texas, where he has lived, performed and taught for the last 32 years. He has kept a very busy schedule, performing with such groups as: Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, Theater Under the Stars, The Paragon Brass Ensemble, The Houston Symphony and Broadway Across America.

Kevin also served as Principal Horn of the Lake Charles Symphony the Corpus Christi Symphony and the Victoria Symphony.

Kevin has also been consistently active as a teacher. He teaches at Houston Community College, has taught at San Jacinto College, Houston Baptist University, and also maintains a private horn studio.
