McNeese Rodeo Results: Northeast Texas Collegiate Rodeo
McNeese State University’s rodeo teams swept the Northeast Texas Community College 23rd annual rodeo in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, with first place championship title wins for both the men’s and women’s teams. The teams faced more than 300 competitors from other colleges and universities in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association’s Southern region.
On the men’s team, Ryder Sanford took first place in saddle bronc riding while Lathan Lyons finished 5th. Waylon Borgeouis took 3rd in bareback bronc riding. In steer wrestling, Gabe Soileau placed 3rd, Zach Jongbloed placed 5th and Gavin Soileau placed 10th.
For the women’s team, Kaylee Cormier took home the women’s all around first place title and first place in breakaway roping. She also placed 4th in goat tying, while Kamryn Duncan placed 5th, Kati Murphy placed 9th and Ashleigh Young finished 10th in the same event. Elizabeth Broussard placed first in barrel racing, while Grace Hanley finished 10th.
McNeese’s men’s rodeo team is currently ranked no. 1 in the Southern region, while the women’s team is currently ranked no. 2.
“We are excited about this year’s rodeo. It’s going to be the best yet,” says Coach Justin Browning. “With both our men’s team currently on track to win their next national title and the women’s team their third national title in a row, it’s going to be a year to watch.”
