McNeese Presents Joint Senior Recital

The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present a joint senior recital featuring Jacob Bridges, trumpet, and Roxie Jo Davis, French horn, at 5 p.m. Monday, April 16, in Tritico Theatre.
Bridges will perform “Boutade” by Pierre Gabaye, “Concerto in E-flat Major” by Johann Baptist Georg Neruda, “Sonata for Trumpet” by Halsey Stevens, “Fanfare for Trumpets” by Cindy McTee, “Let the Bright Seraphim” from “Samson” by George Friedrich Handel and “Aha!” by Imogen Heap and arranged by Bridges.
He will be accompanied by Dr. Lina Morita, on piano, and assisted by Ashley Traughber, soprano, and the Honors Brass Quintet, featuring Mikayla Dupont, trumpet, Andrew Usie, trombone, Tyler Young, tuba, and Davis, horn.
Davis will perform “Sonata in E-flat” by Franz Danzi, “Sonata for Horn” by Paul Hindemith, “Le Rendez-vous de Chasse” by Gioacchino Rossini, “Someone to Watch Over Me” by George Gershwin and “Seaside Impressions” by Franz Strauss.
She will be accompanied by Dr. Ulysses Loken, on piano, and assisted by the McNeese Horn Ensemble, featuring Alejandro Leal, J.J. Bartley, Lila Jackson and Darby Cook.
Bridges, from Sulphur, is a music education major at McNeese. He has been a member of the McNeese Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Basketball Pep Band, Trumpet Ensemble, Brass Choir, the Honors and Aria Brass Quintets and the “Pride of McNeese” Cowboy Marching Band, where he served as the trumpet section leader and equipment manager in 2017.
He is active in several student organizations. He currently serves as vice president of the Iota Upsilon chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity and music director of the Rho Zeta chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, where he was awarded “Most Outstanding Collegiate Member” for his service. He also served in the Student Government Association.
Davis, from Harlingen, Texas, is a music education major at McNeese. She has been a member of McNeese’s Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Honors Brass Quintet, Horn Ensemble, Basketball Pep Band and the “Pride of McNeese” Cowboy Marching Band, where she serves as the mellophone section leader. She also served as principle horn for the 2017 Intercollegiate Honor Band and has performed with the Lake Charles Community Band and the Lake Charles and Acadiana symphonies.
