For the second consecutive year, McNeese State University is ranked in Tier One in the Best Regional Universities-South category in the 2014 edition of "America's Best Colleges" published by U.S. News and World Report.

A bronze statue titled "The Cowboy" by legendary western painter and sculptor Buck McCain was officially dedicated Aug. 14 at the Jack V. Doland Field House.

McNeese is one of 19 universities awarded a grant in a national competition to advance and strengthen regional economies. McNeese will use the $102,590 grant to become the hub of innovation for Southwest Louisiana business and industry.

McNeese State University Athletics Director Tommy McClelland has been selected to become the next athletic director at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. McClelland has led the athletics department at McNeese since 2007.

The McNeese State University Burton College of Education is sponsoring its annual teaching and learning conference for PK-12 educators August 1-2 on the McNeese Campus. "Literacy, Numeracy and Technology" is the theme of this year's conference.

Amy Fleury
Amy Fleury, associate professor of English and director of the McNeese creative writing program, has released a new collection of poetry titled, "Sympathetic Magic," published by the Southern Illinois University Press.
