McNeese to Host Reading By Poet David Kirby
The annual Frank Granger Poetry Reading will feature poet David Kirby at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, in the McNeese State University Business Conference Center. This free reading is sponsored by the McNeese Master of Fine Arts program.
Kirby is the award-winning author of “The Ha-Ha” (2003), “The House on Boulevard St.” (2007), “Talking about Movies with Jesus” (2011), “Get Up, Please” (2016) and “More Than This” (2019). He is the recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Florida Arts Council.
A Louisiana native, Kirby received his bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University and his doctorate from John’s Hopkins University. Currently, he is the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor of English at Florida State University.
