McNeese Student Interns for Biotech Company
McNeese State University senior, Elijah Adediran, spent his summer immersed in biotechnology as an intern at Roche Diagnostics.
Roche Diagnostics is a corporation developing diagnostic products for cancer, cardiac health, infectious diseases and women’s health.
Adediran, an electrical engineering major from Lagos, Nigeria, interned for one of the company’s teams.
“I became familiar with software I had no prior experience with,” he said. “I learned printed circuit board design, which is a great skill for an electrical engineer to have.”
For Adediran, one of the best parts of the internship was being part of a team working together towards a goal.
“Having the experience of being on a team goes a long way in the engineering profession,” he explained.
He encourages other students to be proactive when trying to find internships.
“Have a clear mindset about what you want to do in the future,” Adediran said. “Seek help from other students in your major or your professors. They are always willing to give you advice.”
Adediran plans to work full time in electrical engineering and pursue an advanced degree in the field.
“The experience and skills I gained from this internship will be vital for advancing my career.”
