McNeese Master’s Degree in Psychology Program Nationally Recognized

McNeese State University’s Master of Arts degree in psychology with a concentration in applied behavior analysis has been recognized as being one of the top programs in the country by Applied Behavior Analysis Programs Guide and Online Schools Report.
Applied Behavior Analysis Programs Guide ranks the program at No. 15 in its “40 Best Applied Behavior Analysis Graduate Certificate Online Programs 2020” list. This ranking was based on small student to faculty ratios, affordable tuition and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam certification pass rates.

Online Schools Report ranks the program in its top 20 “Best Online Master’s in Psychology,” based on McNeese’s online offerings, admission rates, cost and specialty trainings available.
“Our ABA faculty are tremendously proud of McNeese being recognized as one of the top graduate certificate programs in applied behavior analysis,” says Dr. Joanna B. Thompson, assistant professor of psychology. “We currently have four core ABA faculty members, allowing us to focus heavily on providing individualized attention to each of our students and work together as a team to ensure that each of our students are provided with a high-quality educational experience.”
ABA service professionals help improve the quality of life for individuals with neurodevelopment disorders through education and skills development.
In the ABA program at McNeese, students complete 24 credit hours of core psychology classes and 31 hours of ABA concentration classes. While on-campus students complete their internship with the McNeese Autism Program, online students complete their internship hours at an approved off-campus site.
Both the on-campus and online programs are verified course sequences by the Association for Behavior Analysis International, meaning the courses allow students to be eligible to sit for the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst examinations.
“Our online program follows the same format as the on-campus offerings,” says Dr. Cameron Melville, coordinator of the psychology graduate program. “Our faculty members are industry-leading, qualified experts dedicated to developing the skills our students need to succeed and provide the best care to their clients.”
