Student Central is Open and Ready to Help

Prospective students and their families can explore McNeese State University’s campus and find out about academic programs, scholarships and more from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to the communication efforts of university staff and recruiters.

“We’re reaching out and engaging with applicants through email, text, over the phone and we will soon incorporate Zoom sessions,” says Kourtney Istre, director of admissions and recruiting. “We’re still available to answer any questions students have about orientation and preparing for their first semester at McNeese.”

As members of the Louisiana Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (LACRAO), McNeese will be participating in a virtual college fair for Louisiana high school students on Tuesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 9. But prospective students can visit campus online any time through McNeese’s virtual tour at www.mcneese.edu/admissions/campus-visit.

“We are committed to providing interested students informative and engaging alternatives to onsite tours,” Istre adds. “Our recruiters are currently working with some of our student tour guides on new campus tour videos that will soon be available on McNeese’s social media platforms.”

Staff at Student Central are also working to process applications, financial aid awards, transcripts and more, and freshman advisors are available on Zoom to advise incoming freshmen.

“Students and parents can have confidence we are still operating even though there are few people on campus right now,” says Dr. Toby Osburn, associate vice president for enrollment management. “Even though our enrollment team is working remotely, we’re operating at 100% capacity.”
