POSTPONED: McNeese Theatre To Present “The Laramie Project”

Following CDC guidelines restricting events involving 50 or more participants, this event has been postponed.
The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present “The Laramie Project” March 25-29 in Squires Recital Hall in the Shearman Fine Arts building. Times are 7:30 p.m. March 25-28 and 2 p.m. March 29.
After a gay University of Wyoming student named Matthew Shepard was brutally killed in Laramie, Wyo., Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic Theatre Group traveled to the town to interview residents on how the murder had affected the community. “The Laramie Project” is a compilation of those interviews and its characters are the townspeople.
With each actor playing multiple roles, the play seeks to explore the capacity in people and communities for hatred and compassion, prejudice and tolerance.
Directed by Charles McNeely, McNeese theatre director, the play’s crew includes Michelle Brunson, Rosepine, as technical and set designer; Bronson Jordan, Lake Charles, as stage manager; David Ifland, DeRidder, as sound composer and designer; Jonathan Richards, Lake Charles, as light designer; Rhett McCann, Moss Bluff, as projection coordinator and operator; and Tristan Robinson-Williams, Lake Charles, as prop coordinator and dresser.
The show will star Dylan Conley, Ragley; Tyron Corpuz, Marikina, Phillipines; JoAnn Hanks, Lake Charles; Milton Marcantel, Lake Charles; Supratik Regmi, Kathmandu, Nepal; Anna Sternaman, Lafayette; Jennifer Tolbert, Grand Lake and Bailey Winston, San Marino, Calif.
Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for McNeese faculty/staff, senior citizens, K-12 students and teachers and free for McNeese students with a current ID.
