McNeese Theatre Presents “Kimberly Akimbo”
McNeese State University’s W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts presents the McNeese Theatre production of the play “Kimberly Akimbo” at 7 p.m. April 17-20 and at 2 p.m. April 20 in Tritico Theatre.
“Kimberly Akimbo” by David Lindsay-Abaire is a hilarious and heartrending play about a teenager with a rare condition causing her body to age faster than it should. When she and her family flee Secaucus, New Jersey, under dubious circumstances, Kimberly is forced to reevaluate her life while contending with a hypochondriac mother, a rarely sober father, a scam-artist aunt, her own mortality and, most terrifying of all, the possibility of first love.
This play is being directed by Joshua Stenvick, McNeese assistant professor of theatre.
Patrons will have the opportunity to celebrate opening night at a reception with the cast and crew following the production on Wednesday, April 17.
General admission is $20 and $10 for all students with their student ID.
The McNeese Theatre program gives students from all areas of study an opportunity to express their creativity and become storytellers. The students build close friendships with cast, crew and professors that feel like a second home, according to Stenvick.
