McNeese SAGE Series Presents “Wit & Wrath: The Life and Times of Dorothy Parker”

As part of the McNeese State University spring 2020 SAGE series, performer, storyteller and vocalist Claudia Baumgarten will perform a one-woman show, “Wit & Wrath: The Life and Times of Dorothy Parker,” at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March. 11, in Parra Ballroom.
Written and performed by Baumgarten, the performance highlights and explores the fascinating life of American poet, writer, critic and satirist Dorothy Parker, the most widely read and quoted woman of the 1920s.
With martini in hand, Baumgarten, as Parker, the Jazz Age, her tumultuous love life and Hollywood culture, embodying the wit, acid tongue and compassion of Parker in an edgy and literary homage. It offers audiences the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the truly phenomenal, witty and outrageous Parker and her writings.
Baumgarten has performed in New Orleans for three decades and is active with outreach programs at schools and libraries in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana. She has performed “Wit & Wrath” to sold-out audiences at both the New Orleans Fringe Festival and the Tennessee Williams Festival. She also performs with Miss Claudia & The Delicious Jazz Band.
