Banners Cultural Season Kicks Off with Robin Spielberg Performance

Pianist and composer Robin Spielberg kicks off McNeese State University’s 2020 Banners Cultural Season with her presentation, “The Healing Power of Music,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 5, at the Benjamin Mount Theatre at Central School Arts & Humanities Center, followed by a piano performance at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at McNeese’s F.G. Bulber Auditorium, where she will premiere music from her newest album, “Love Story.”
A prolific composer, Spielberg has 19 recordings to her credit and appears on over 40 compilations around the world. She has performed in such prestigious environments as Carnegie Hall, the Seoul Arts Center, Mao Livehouse in Shanghai, on “CBS Saturday Morning,” PBS, “Life Time Live” and NPR.
As a Celebrity Artist spokesperson for the American Music Therapy Association, Spielberg also offers engaging talks, workshops and community outreach programs on the transformative power of music on healing as featured on her TEDx Talk. Spielberg’s impact extends beyond the stage as she continues to lead focused master classes, engaging workshops and multifaceted residencies in communities across the country.
“The Healing Power of Music” presentation is open free to the public and seating is limited on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets for the March 7 performance are $20 for adults, $5 for students under 18 and free for McNeese and Sowela students with current IDs.
