Author Stephanie Soileau to Hold Fiction Reading

Author Stephanie Soileau will give a free fiction reading at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, in Stokes Auditorium in Hardtner Hall at McNeese State University. This reading is sponsored by the McNeese Master of Fine Arts program and a Juliet Hardtner Endowed Professorship.

A Lake Charles native, Soileau is the author of the short story collection, “Last One Out Shut Off the Lights” (2020). Her fiction has appeared in “Tin House,” “Oxford American,” “Glimmer Train” and “New Stories from the South.”

She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and has been a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University as well as a National Endowment for the Arts and Provincetown Fellow. She has taught creative writing at the Art Institute of Chicago, Stanford and the University of Southern Maine and currently teaches at the University of Chicago.
