1. Why will tuition and fees increase?

This is the first tuition increase at McNeese since 2017 and the first fee increase since 2020. The 7% inflationary adjustment fee, authorized under Act 790, helps maintain the quality of academic programs, student services, and campus operations amid rising costs. The administration has made every consideration possible to ensure the fee increase is reasonable and justifiable. As a result of this adjustment, we will continue to be able to provide a product that recruits the best students, retains students, and positions students for the world of work.  

2. What is the 7% inflationary adjustment fee?

The inflationary adjustment fee is standardized and reflects a 7% increase in the value of tuition and fees. This adjustment helps cover rising operational costs, ensuring that McNeese continues to provide high-quality education and support services to students. Even with the addition of the inflationary adjustment fee, McNeese will remain among four-year institutions with a lower overall cost of attendance as all public higher education institutions will be implementing a fee increase.

3. What is differential tuition, and when will it take effect?

Differential tuition applies to certain high-cost programs that require additional resources, such as specialized faculty, equipment, and clinical or lab experiences. McNeese expects to delay imposing differential tuition implementation to provide more time for planning and to foster campus awareness. When implemented, we will notify students of the parameters and if their program is affected.

4. Is financial assistance available for students facing hardship?

Yes. McNeese will provide hardship waivers for qualifying students who experience financial difficulties. Students facing financial challenges are encouraged to contact the Office of Administrative Accounting to discuss available options.

5. What financial aid resources are available?

Financial aid award eligibility calculations will take any tuition and fee increase into account. Students should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to access federal, state, and institutional financial aid.  Additional resources include:
