Purpose

  1. To define the appropriate actions and responses to various emergency situations that may occur on the University campus.

Responsibility

  1.   Any individual that witnesses a potential emergency situation shall contact University Police.
    1.   University Police shall be contacted for all on-campus emergency situations.
  2.   To assist the University Police as needed, McNeese State University has a Crisis Response Team.
    1.   Team Members include:
      1.   Chief, University Police
        1.   Investigator, University Police
        2.   Director of Operations, University Police
      2.   Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management & Student Affairs
      3.   Coordinator, University Counseling Center
      4.   Associate Dean, Student Services
      5.   Director, Intramurals / REC Complex
      6.   Director, Facilities and Planning
      7.   Director, Public Information and Communication
      8.   Academic Computing Center Representative
      9.   Building Coordinator(s)
      10.   Environmental, Health, Safety and Hazardous Waste Officer

Guidelines

The primary Incident Command Center for emergency response is located in the University Police conference room.  Crisis Response Team member duties include but are not limited to:

  1.   Chief, University Police
    1.   Serves on the building evacuation team
      1.   Mobilizes police officers to:
        1.   Manages site security
        2.   Provide crowd control
        3.   Contact area agencies as needed
  2.   Investigator, University Police
    1.   Investigate the incident / accident
    2.   Assist with site security
  3.   Director of Operations, University Police
    1.   Official record keeper for Crisis Response Team
  4.   Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management & Student Affairs
    1.   Serves as chairperson of the Crisis Response Team
    2.   Coordinates University emergency medical services
    3.   Coordinates contact of relatives
  5.   Coordinator, University Counseling Center
    1.   Provides incident debriefing
    2.   Provides counseling services as needed
  6.   Associate Dean, Student Services
    1.   Assists Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management & Student Affairs
    2.   Serves on the building evacuation team
  7.   Director, Intramurals / REC Complex
    1.   Serves on the building evacuation team
    2.   Serves in an advisory capacity
  8.   Director, Facilities and Planning
    1.   Mobilizes Physical Plant personnel as required for response efforts
    2.   Mobilizes appropriate materials and equipment for emergency response
    3.   Serves on the building evacuation team
  9.   Director, Public Information and Communication
    1.   Prepares and releases statements and updates to the media concerning site activities
  10.   Academic Computing Center Representative
    1.   Serves in an advisory capacity
  11.   Building Coordinator(s)
    1.   Serves on the building evacuation team
    2.   Serves in an advisory capacity
  12.   Environmental, Health, Safety and Hazardous Waste Officer
    1.   Coordinates assembling of Crisis Response Team members at Incident Command Center.
    2.   Serves on the building evacuation team
    3.   Serves in an advisory capacity
    4.   Assist the Director, Facilities and Planning as needed
    5.   Serves as a liaison between incident commanders, medical personnel, emergency personnel, law enforcement agencies, University Police and other appropriate University officials and personnel.
