Wellness Program

We Change Lives

The McNeese Wellness program offers free exercise classes, health talks, lifestyle programs, fitness challenges, conditioning programs, wellness screenings, health fairs, wellness consultations and more for McNeese students, faculty and staff.

Fitness Schedule

Afternoon classes

Yoga (starts 8/19)
Mondays and Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:10 p.m.
This gentle yoga class will help you to increase flexibility, cope with stress and learn basic meditation techniques.  All fitness levels are welcome!  
Instructor: Dr. Elizabeth Hait
Held in the Rec Center’s Aerobics Room.

Cardio Kickboxing (Starts 8/27)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, Noon – 12:30 p.m.
Enjoy a total body workout as you kick and punch targets and perform strength and cardio exercises. This class helps you improve your strength, flexibility and endurance.  
Instructor:  Joon-Young Hong
Held in the Rec’s Aerobics Room

Water Fitness (Starts 8/20)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 – 1:15 p.m.
This class increases flexibility, tone muscles and provides aerobic benefits. The class will include stretching, walking and other locomotive skills, the use of kickboards and fins and jug activities.
Instructor: Pat Pickett
Held in the Rec Center’s Pool.

Evening classes

Dance Fit (Starts 8/19)
Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
In this class, get moving to great music and increase your stamina, get your heart pumping, and promote muscle flexibility. “Dancer” status in not required! Great for any fitness level.

Held in the Rec Center’s Aerobics Room

Adrenaline Rush (Starts 8/20)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
This class focuses on an interval workout format utilizing a variety of equipment (including steps, free weights, medicine balls and resistance bands) to blend aerobic activities with strength training. There’s no complicated choreography, just a great workout!  All fitness levels are welcome.
Instructor: Kayla Cassidy
Held in the Rec Center’s Aerobics Room.

Wellness to Go!

Workplace Wellness

The Wellness Program is available to speak to your department on various topics including stress management, managing blood pressure, healthy eating, exercise information, tips for staying active at work, back health and much more. These talks can be done for 10-15 minutes during meetings. If you would like to have a health talk or blood pressure screenings in your area, call Kelly Darbonne at 475-5277.

One-on-One Health and Wellness Consultations

Want to get back on track with your health and wellness goals? Schedule a free consultation with a member of our workplace wellness team: Kelly Darbonne, Certified Health Educator and Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist, Teresa Goree, Registered Nurse & Certified Diabetes Educator, or Ashely Chretien Registered Nurse.

Wellness consultations with Kelly can include a personalized fitness plan, weight management, nutrition guidance and goal setting. Health consultations with Teresa or Ashley can include education on specific health conditions, blood pressure management, glucose control, cholesterol management and help getting established with a physician. Health consultations with Teresa or Ashley are only available to McNeese employees.
