McNeese’s “Boudin” Goes to Hollywood

McNeese State University’s online literary magazine, Boudin, goes to Hollywood with its chapbook contest launch party Thursday, March 27 from 5-7 p.m. PDT in West Hollywood. Readers attended the event in person or by livestream at https://www.youtube.com/@McNeeseMFA.
The event will feature readings by Lynn Mundell, Lori Sambol Brody, Rae Cline, J. Bruce Fuller, Aimee Delong, Paul Corman-Roberts, Jennifer Murvin and Michael Czyzniejewski.
Boudin is the online counterpart to McNeese’s literary magazine, The McNeese Review, cleverly dubbed the spicy online cousin of The McNeese Review. It features fiction, poetry and other forms of creative work.
Dr. Lynn Watson, assistant professor of English and fiction in the Master of Fine Arts in creative writing program, is the editor of Boudin.
“This is Boudin’s first chapbook contest and we are fortunate to have renowned author Roxane Gay serve as our judge,” Watson said. A chapbook is a small, printed booklet.
Boudin is accepting chapbook submissions for the contest until April 15. The winner will receive $1,000.
“Boudin is a monthly online literary magazine, generally guest-edited by one of our MFA students,” Watson explained. “Besides me, the staff is all MFA students. I couldn’t do it without them, especially Karris Rae McCollum, the managing editor, and Taryn White, the associate editor.”
Founded in 1981, McNeese’s MFA degree program is the oldest MFA program in Louisiana and one of the oldest in the Southeast.
