McNeese Women’s Rodeo Team Takes First Place
The McNeese State University women’s rodeo team took first place and the men’s team placed fifth at the recent Panola Junior College Rodeo in Tatum, Texas.
Mia Manzanares, Opelousas, won the women’s all-around competition. She also placed first in breakaway roping and tied for first place in goat tying.
In breakaway roping, Lexi Gunter, Sulphur, tied for fifth, and Chloe Frey, Opelousas, finished eight.
In goat tying, Ashleigh Young, Mansfield, Texas, tied for fifth while Kati Murphy, Bell City, and Kaylee Cormier, Iowa, tied for seventh.
In saddle bronc riding, Lathon Lyons, Eunice, placed third, and Ryder Sanford, Carlyss, finished fourth.
In bareback riding, Sandro Ferretti, Noves, France, placed third, Waylon Bourgeois, Church Point, placed fourth, and Layne Graham, Jay, Oklahoma, finished sixth.
In tie down roping, Conner Matheson, Bell City, placed fourth.
In team roping, Logan Fontenot, Iowa, finished eight.
