McNeese will Hold Two Commencement Ceremonies on Dec. 9
McNeese State University will hold two ceremonies Friday, Dec. 9, to confer degrees on the graduates at the university’s 159th Commencement in McNeese’s Legacy Center. The ceremony for the colleges of agricultural sciences, business and liberal arts will be held at 9:30 a.m. and the Burton College of Education and colleges of nursing and health professions and science, engineering and mathematics will be held at 3 p.m.
An honorary doctorate will be awarded at the morning ceremony to Jeffrey A. Miller (‘86), chairman, president and CEO of Halliburton Co., one of the world’s largest providers of products and services to the energy industry. The Houston, Texas-based company has over 45,000 employees operating in more than 70 countries.
Guests will not be allowed access to the floor at any time before, during or after the ceremonies.
Graduates will not be allowed access to the guest seating areas at any time before, during or after the ceremonies.
The summer and fall classes of 2022 include 582 candidates from 38 parishes,
14 states and 20 countries, and 590 degrees will be awarded, including 25 associate degrees, 476 bachelor’s degrees and 89 master’s degrees.
Doors will open one and one-half hours before each ceremony. For the safety and security of everyone in attendance, only clear bags not to exceed 12”x 6”x 12” will be allowed inside the Legacy Center and all bags are subject to search.
The times, college ceremonies and college guest speakers are as follows:
9:30 a.m. – College of Agricultural Sciences, College of Business and College of Liberal Arts, Jeffrey A. Miller (‘86), chairman, president and CEO of Halliburton Co.
3 p.m. – Burton College of Education, College of Nursing and Health Professions and College of Science, Engineering and Mathematics, Scot Tyler (‘90), general manager of the Lake Charles Refinery for Phillips 66.
The McNeese commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed on YouTube at www.youtube.com/McNeeseStateU/streams or on the McNeese website at www.mcneese.edu/watch/ for family members and friends unable to attend commencement. The ceremony will also be broadcast on the Calcasieu Parish Government Channel at a date to be announced.
