McNeese Student Interns at Cameron LNG

Fisher Wallace, senior at McNeese State University, completed an internship with Cameron LNG in Hackberry. This company works to transform natural gas into liquified natural gas.
The management major learned the importance of teamwork and communication within supply chain industry throughout his internship.
“Everyone relies on one another to complete processes and achieve the final product,” says Wallace.
Wallace, from Lake Charles, plans to use his newfound communication skills to network and build strong relationships with coworkers. He then intends to use these connections to gain a better understanding of tasks and deadlines while improving the knowledge and skills he needs for his future career.
“The internship gave me a deeper understanding of all the facets of supply chain operations. The knowledge I gained will make it easier to navigate and operate effectively in future industrial settings,” he says.
Wallace chose to major in management because of the flexibility it gives to enter many different industries. He also enjoys interacting and collaborating with others, which is a key part of the field.
“I chose McNeese because I wanted to stay near friends and family and I was drawn to the College of Business,” he expressed.
Wallace applied information and skills obtained in the classroom during his participation at Cameron LNG.
“I used what I had learned about professionalism and communication when interacting with coworkers in daily activities. Additionally, I conducted a spend analysis during a sourcing project using a method I first encountered in my marketing and management classes,” he explained.
Wallace also used concepts learned outside of the classroom that successfully played a part in his internship.
“I realized the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone, which builds both character and skill in personal and professional life. I also learned that asking questions is critical. Most people are willing to help because everyone shares the same goal of completing tasks as efficiently as possible,” he says.
Wallace plans to apply for positions in the local LNG or manufacturing industries and begin building his career.
“I started looking for internships later in college, but if I could go back, I would begin applying as early as possible. Getting an internship sooner helps build your skills and resume in a timely way, setting you up for your future earlier rather than later,” he advised.
