McNeese Senior Interns at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital

This summer, Sarah Imran, senior business management major at McNeese State University, had the opportunity to intern at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital in the marketing department.
Imran, from Sulphur, discovered the importance of effectively utilizing digital platforms to communicate the value of businesses, like the hospital, which is essential for establishing and nurturing trust within the local community.
“As a future entrepreneur, I will remember that gaining the trust of customers, clients or patients is fundamental to success in any industry,” she said.
Imrans’s internship reinforced how crucial effective communication and shared responsibility are in driving projects to successful completion. She believes achieving significant project success is due to having a dedicated team rather than solely individual contributions.
“My marketing courses emphasized the importance of brand identity, which directly influenced my approach when developing three different websites for the hospital,” she explained.
During her internship, Imran was able to prepare and distribute company-wide emails along with formal press releases. This hands-on experience refined her ability to write clearly, concisely and appropriately for diverse audiences and communication channels.
“I chose McNeese State University because it offers quality education with a high return on investment and valuable community and industry connections, along with nationally ranked programs,” she expressed.
She chose her major because it opens diverse career opportunities across many industries and provides strong foundational skills for leadership roles while increasing earning potential. She plans to pursue her master’s degree in business administration after graduation.
Imran tells students, “Be honest about the skills you do and don’t have during the interview process. Have the willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback because most of the time employers are looking for individuals who they can mold to fit their organization.”
