October 29, 2019 | McNeese Public Relations

Dec. 1 is the priority deadline for 2020-21 academic scholarship applications at McNeese State University.

“High school seniors should begin the application procedure now for academic scholarships to McNeese,” said Ralynn Castete, director of scholarships. “March 1 is the final deadline and the awarding of scholarships is currently underway and will continue until funding is exhausted.”

Each year, McNeese awards more than $6 million in scholarships to students with outstanding academic qualifications, according to Castete. These scholarships are awarded based upon the students’ academic abilities as evidenced by standardized test scores, previous academic coursework, GPA and class standing.

To apply for academic scholarships, students should complete the online application for Admission and Scholarships before the deadlines at and submit all documents such as transcripts and ACT/SAT test scores as well as information about honors, awards, extracurricular activities and employment when answering the scholarship questions.

Castete said the McNeese Honors College also offers students an opportunity to learn within an inspiring and supportive academic community. Students with an ACT composite score of 27 or higher are eligible to apply for participation. The application and additional criteria are available on the McNeese website at
