A Prometric Testing Center is now available in Southwest Louisiana through the Office of Testing Services at McNeese State University. The center – located in Suite 210C in the Burton Business Center – is open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday by appointment.
McNeese’s Testing Services now offers academic and professional licensure and certification exams through Prometric Testing, according to Andrea Burton, McNeese’s testing officer. Prometric, a wholly owned, independently operated subsidiary of Educational Testing Service, pioneered large-scale computer-based testing and assessment more than 20 years ago.
“Whether by starting a new career, further developing skills to improve on an existing one, adding to current qualifications for a promotion, taking school entrance exams or simply for professional development, people taking tests want a secure and accessible environment and our collaboration with Prometric provides this,” says Burton.
“Since we opened the center a couple of months ago, more than 200 people have traveled to our campus for testing, with the majority traveling from Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Houston to take tests,” she adds. “The Praxis exam – a series of tests used for teacher certification in Louisiana – has been one of the more popular tests.”
Among the hundreds of exams offered are the CPA exam, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority exam, Louisiana Insurance and Louisiana Construction exams, the American Petroleum Institute exam as well as the GRE and TOEFL exams.
Burton said all Prometric exams must be scheduled through Prometric at www.prometric.com. A more extensive list of exams, registration and fee information and FAQ is available at the Prometric website.
McNeese’s Academic Testing Center also offers testing for ACT, GMAT, CLEP, LSAT, GRE, Praxis, TOEFL as well as GED information, exam proctoring and classroom testing for makeup tests. Hours for the academic testing center are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday by appointment.
