McNeese MFA Graduate Receives Prestigious Stanford Lectureship

McNeese State University graduate Jenn Alandy Trahan has been awarded the prestigious Jones Lectureship in Fiction at Stanford University. As a Jones Lecturer, Trahan will teach courses in creative writing while working to complete her first book.
The two-year lectureship is only available to previous Wallace Stegner Fellows in the creative writing program at Stanford. Trahan – a 2015 graduate of McNeese’s Master of Fine Arts in creative writing program – received her Stegner Fellowship in August 2016.
Two other McNeese MFA alumni have received both Jones and Stegner fellowships – Pulitzer Prize author Adam Johnson (1996) and award-winning poet Michael Shewmaker (2010).
“I’m humbled and honored to be the third McNeese MFA graduate to be awarded this post,” says Trahan. “I’ll be teaching at my dream institution, surrounded by dream colleagues and I’ll have the much-needed time to finish my first book as a Stanford faculty member.”
