McNeese Counseling Center Receives IACS Accreditation

The McNeese State University Counseling Center has been awarded accreditation by the International Association of Counseling services (IACS).
Established in 1971, IACS is the accreditation association for university, four-year college and two-year community college counseling services. Accreditation by IACS is the highest standard available for campus counseling centers, according to Raime Thibodeaux, director of the McNeese Counseling Center.
“The accreditation process includes periodic outside review to ensure that a center is hiring qualified staff, maintaining ethical standards and meeting or exceeding established standards of practice,” Thibodeaux says.
Through this evaluation, she says McNeese was found to offer outstanding professional services to its clientele.
“We are extremely pleased to have achieved IACS accreditation for the center,” says Thibodeaux. “It was a rigorous process but one that we welcome as a measure of our commitment to providing high level, quality services to students here at McNeese.”
The university counseling center is located in Room 112 E in Kaufman Hall, and offers comprehensive mental health counseling, assessment, consultation and crisis intervention to all students enrolled. For more information about services, call 337-475-5136.
