McNeese Announces New Director of Recruiting and New Registrar 

McNeese State University announces Candace Stracner as the new director of recruiting and Jessica Markstrom as the new registrar. 

Stracner earned a bachelor’s degree from McNeese and has worked in human resources for the last 15 years. She says it is incredibly rewarding to be in a role where she can encourage the next generation of McNeese Cowboys. 

“I am looking forward to connecting with prospective students and sharing the many opportunities McNeese has to offer,” she said. “I’m also thrilled to be collaborating with a fantastic and talented team who will help students envision their own McNeese journey.” 

Markstrom also earned a bachelor’s degree at McNeese, along with a master’s degree from the University of New Orleans and a law degree from Texas Tech University. She was a social sciences faculty member at McNeese from 2014 until 2020 and was most recently a student certification officer. 

She says her life has been impacted by McNeese and that she is happy to be working with students. 

“I get to help students succeed from registration to graduation,” she said. “I am especially excited about graduation. It exemplifies the student journey of success and achievement.”
