McNeese and SoLAcc Clear Pathway for Transfers
McNeese State University and South Louisiana Community College (SoLAcc) have signed an agreement to offer a smooth transition from an Associate of Science in criminal justice at SoLAcc to a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice at McNeese.
“I have been pleased to work with SoLAcc’s leadership on this articulation agreement. The college’s commitment to students is clear and McNeese is honored to partner with SoLAcc in providing seamless pathways to a four-year degree,” said Dr. Michael Buckles, McNeese provost and vice president for academic affairs.
The new agreement will welcome students from SoLAcc to complete the coursework for a bachelor’s degree in McNeese’s criminal justice program.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with South Louisiana Community College on this pathway in criminal justice. This agreement aligns with our commitment to student success and opens doors for students who are passionate about making a difference in their communities through careers in criminal justice,” explained Dr. Wade Rousse, president of McNeese.
Students complete their first two years at SoLAcc, acquiring foundational knowledge in American criminal justice, crime prevention and corrections systems. Then, students transfer to McNeese to complete the final two years of their bachelor’s degree. This structured pathway allows students who earn an associate degree to smoothly transition to McNeese’s four-year criminal justice program.
“Transferring from one school to another can be one of the most important decisions a student can make. Unfortunately, it can also be one of the most difficult. I’m excited that McNeese and the College of Liberal Arts can partner with SoLAcc to make this process a little easier. It’s a great reminder that when we work together, everybody wins,” said Dr. Keagan LeJeune, interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts.
Both SoLAcc and McNeese offer students an affordable criminal justice program with the flexibility of in-person and online learning options. SoLAcc students have the opportunity to earn prior learning credits for Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy completion or military experience, making this program ideal for current or aspiring criminal justice professionals.
