McNeese State University is offering two programs this summer that focus on health careers: High School Round-Up June 12-16 for grades 9-11 and Camp Fast Forward: Summer Exploration and Simulation Camp June 26-30 for students entering grades 6-9. Both programs are free.
The High School Round-Up – hosted by the McNeese College of Nursing and Health Professions and the Department of Undergraduate Nursing – is focused on high school students who are interested in a nursing career. Students will learn about essential nursing skills and about the McNeese nursing program from McNeese nursing faculty, watch simulation demonstrations and hear from current nursing majors about what it takes to be a successful nurse.
This program, funded by a McNeese endowed professorship, runs from 9 a.m.-noon in Hardtner Hall. Registration is limited to 20 students. An application is required and criteria include a participant’s GPA on science courses and an essay on the participant’s interest in nursing.
Friday, April 21, is the application deadline.
For more information or an application, email Danielle Guillory, assistant professor of nursing and program director, at email@example.com.
