Grammy winner and McNeese graduate Mickey Smith Jr. electrified the crowd as he took center court to perform the national anthem to open Saturday’s men’s basketball game against the University of Central Arkansas.
Recipient of the 2020 Music Educator of the Year Award, Mickey is band director at Maplewood Middle School and president of MusicMakers2U and was recognized in 2019 as a Trailblazer by the McNeese Black Alumni Association.
