Students Celebrate Academic Signing Day on Social Media

McNeese State University’s Academic Signing Day is going virtual and high school students are invited to use social media to celebrate their academic achievements.

Every year, Academic Signing Day showcases the highest-achieving students who have accepted academic scholarships to McNeese and declared their intent to attend in the upcoming fall semester. The day is also a way to commemorate students’ academic success throughout their high school careers.

“We know these students are ready to come to McNeese and we want them to know we are ready to welcome them,” says Dr. Toby Osburn, associate vice president for enrollment management. “Our incoming students have worked hard for these scholarship awards and we want them to get the recognition they deserve.”

Students are being invited to join the online celebration by posting Signing Day pictures and videos on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter using the hashtags #McNeeseBound and #FirstChoice.

Students who post through March 27 will be entered into a drawing for McNeese Bookstore gift cards and have their photos included in the university’s Academic Signing Day 2020 photo gallery on McNeese’s official Facebook page. 

“We want to reassure students, as well as parents, that we are ready for them to begin classes on Aug. 17,” says Osburn. “Every day, Student Central is taking phone calls and responding to emails, processing financial aid applications and receiving and evaluating transcripts. Our freshman advisers are conducting Zoom advising sessions and have registered almost 400 incoming freshmen this week.”
