McNeese to Hold Virtual Awards Ceremony for Freshmen Scholarship Recipients
McNeese State University will hold a virtual awards ceremony Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. on the university’s Facebook page for incoming freshmen who have received a scholarship.
“We’re excited to recognize and welcome our newest Cowboys and Cowgirls from Louisiana and around the nation,” said Dr. Toby Osburn, associate vice president for enrollment management at McNeese. “While we weren’t able to shake hands with individual students at their high school awards ceremony, we want to express our congratulations and celebrate with these students.”
The virtual ceremony will include a message from McNeese President Dr. Daryl Burckel and a slideshow of photos submitted from each award recipient. With each picture, the name of the student’s high school and the award received will also be on screen.
Student names will appear in alphabetical order and will be organized by parish or region. The five-parish area of Southwest Louisiana will be first followed by parishes within Acadiana and the New Orleans area, North Louisiana, Central Louisiana and conclude with all other states and countries.
“We invite all of the McNeese community to join us for this celebration and to congratulate these students,” says Osburn. “This is also a great time for potential students to ask questions about orientation, registration and campus life as our staff will be available via the comment box. We look forward to connecting with our incoming students, their families and schools in this way.” Fall classes begin Aug. 17.
