McNeese to Hold Howdy Rowdy Welcome Back Week

McNeese State University is happily welcoming back new and returning students with a variety of activities set for Howdy Rowdy Welcome Back, now through Aug. 27.
Representatives from student organizations, the Greeks, university offices, academic departments and campus ministries will have representatives on campus during the next two weeks to introduce the students to what the campus has to offer. There will also be a special virtual component for distance learning students.
To ensure student, faculty and staff safety, all attendees will be required to wear masks.
Scheduled events are as follows:
Tuesday, Aug. 18
Student Organizations Fair – 9 a.m.-noon, Quad
The annual Welcome Back Student Organizations Fair is a chance for students, faculty, and staff to become acquainted with the university’s 100+ recognized student organizations. Organizations will be recruiting new members and sharing information about their plans for the new school year. Music and refreshments will be present at each session.
Wednesday, Aug. 19
“Welcome Back Wednesday” – 10 a.m.-noon, Quad
The Student Life Coalition will host a day of free novelties, food and music to welcome new and returning students.
Thursday, Aug. 20
Get Connected Day – 9 a.m.-noon, Quad
Various student support departments and academic areas will host table setups to meet new students, give information about the services they provide and to answer general questions.
Monday, Aug. 24
Campus Ministries Day – 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Quad
McNeese’s many campus ministry student organizations will be present in to distribute information to students about services they provide along with how to join their organizations. There will also be information available regarding attendance to their worship services, meetings and free lunch programs.
Tuesday, Aug. 25
“SGA Day” – 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Quad
The McNeese Student Government Association will host a day to show its appreciation of the McNeese student body. Come to this event to learn more about how you can be connected to and involved with the organization. There will also be free food, music, and cool giveaways.
Wednesday, Aug. 26
“Wellness Wednesday” – 9 a.m.–noon, Quad
Student Health Services will coordinate a program to promote student wellness. There will be tables with information and resources on the following topics: academic health, emotional health, nutritional health, sexual health and healthy alcohol consumption.
Thursday, Aug. 27
“Community Day” – Virtual
Local businesses and community service agencies in the McNeese area have provided information marketing their products and services, while others may be offering opportunities for part-time employment and internships for students. All students will receive a virtual delivery of this information.
