McNeese Presents Bill Rose Faculty Recital

McNeese State University’s W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present a free faculty recital featuring William Rose, associate professor of music, on bass and tenor trombone and alphorn at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, in Tritico Theatre.
He will be accompanied by Anne Rose on piano and Lonny Benoit on percussion. The McNeese Alphorn Ensemble will make its debut during the program.
This concert will include original compositions by Rose, including the premiere of “Improvisation #1” for alphorn and piano, and the premiere of the trombone and piano transcription of Rose’s “Concertino for Trombone and Band.”
Other works include the “Toccata for Bass Trombone and Piano,” “Bouncy Tune” for tenor trombone and piano and two ensemble works for the Alphorn Ensemble, “Promenade and March” and “Afroalp.”
Rose received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his master’s degree from Michigan State University. He is a Yamaha Performing Artist and performs on soprano, alto, tenor and bass trombones, euphonium, tuba and alphorn. He currently serves as chair of the International Trombone Association Press.
