McNeese offers field training officer academy
A field training officer academy will be offered from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Dec. 11-15 in the McNeese SEED Center through McNeese State University’s Economic Development Administration Center and Police Department.
Field training officers are key for any agency to develop and to retain competent and professional officers in law enforcement agencies. This 40-hour academy is designed to equip participants with the skills and resources to function effectively as a field training officer at all levels of law enforcement. Participants will learn about the FTO program’s structure and how to modify it specifically for their particular agency.
The academy will be taught by instructors from McNeese and the University of New Orleans Police Departments, Iowa Police Department, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Department, Louisiana State Police, Calcasieu Parish Juvenile Services and McNeese’s criminal justice program.
