McNeese Hosts Upcoming Play – August: Osage County

McNeese State University will host the upcoming theatre production of August: Osage County by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Tracy Letts July 27-31 in Tritico Theatre. All performances are at 7 p.m. except for Sunday’s show, which is at 2 p.m. This play is for mature audiences
The play revolves around a vanished father, a pill-popping mother and three sisters harboring shady little secrets. When the large Weston family unexpectedly reunites after Dad disappears, their Oklahoman family homestead explodes in a maelstrom of repressed truths and unsettling secrets. Mix in Violet, the drugged-up, scathingly acidic matriarch, and you’ve got a major play that unflinchingly—and uproariously—exposes the dark side of the Midwestern American family.
Director is Rus Blackwell. Cast includes: Paula McCain, Brook Hanemann,
Randy Partin, Heather Partin, San Sadler, Jonathan Richards, Leslie Israel, Mark Harbert, Clay Hebert, Greg Leute, Bacot Wright and Kenzi Whitman.
The production is a collaboration with Banners at McNeese, ACTS Theatre, Lake Charles Little Theatre and the W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts at McNeese.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and can be purchased at www.Banners.org. Admission is free for McNeese and Sowela students with a valid ID..
