McNeese hosts senior vocal recital

The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present a free senior recital by vocal performance major Jalen Byrd of Luling at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, in Tritico Theatre in the Shearman Fine Arts Annex.

At McNeese, Byrd- a baritone – has been a member of the Chamber Singers, performed in the opera workshops and been a featured soloist in the Irving Berlin and George Gershwin showcases presented by the department. He has also appeared twice as a soloist in the annual Lake Charles “Messiah” holiday production.

Byrd will perform the works of a variety of composers including Henry Purcell, Hugo Wolf, Francis Poulenc and Respighi and two duets by contemporary composer, Lori Laitman, with soprano Kaitlin Colby.
