McNeese Hosts Dr. Michael Ward Reading

Dr. Michael Ward, an internationally known scholar on C.S. Lewis, will talk about his latest book, “Planet Narnia,” at 7 p.m. Monday, March 19, in the Business Conference Center at McNeese State University. This free event is sponsored by the McNeese Honors College and the Department of English and Foreign Languages.

Lewis was a British writer who is most famous for his series, “The Chronicles of Narnia.” He was also well known for his work as a Christian apologist (a branch of theology that uses history, science and reasoning to explain Christianity) and his friendship with J.R.R. Tolkein, author of the “Lord of the Rings.”

Ward is senior research fellow at Blackfriar’s Hall of the University of Oxford and professor of apologetics at Houston Baptist University. He is the author of numerous books and articles and co-editor of “The Cambridge Companion to C.S. Lewis.”

He studied English at Oxford, theology at Cambridge and earned his doctorate in divinity from St. Andrews – all universities in the United Kingdom. He has appeared on both BBC and EWTN and has recorded a course on C.S. Lewis for the Great Courses series of the Teaching Company.
