McNeese Harp Recital
The McNeese State University W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts will present a free harp recital with Barbara Belew and Patricia Horvath at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in Tritico Theatre. The program is part of the fall Faculty/Guest Recital Series hosted by the department.
The harp-duo performance will feature works by A. Emmett Adams, J.S. Bach, Cesar Franck, Marcel Grandjany, Jan K. Krumpholtz, Robert Lowry, Ottorino Respighi, along with a set of lieder by Brahms, Franz, Schubert and Schumann, as arranged by Shari Pack, and some traditional melodies.
Belew, a retired McNeese associate professor of music, is a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University and Indiana University. She has directed harp ensembles for both McNeese and the Louisiana chapter of the American Harp Society and has played harp with the Lake Charles Symphony.
Horvath, of Moss Bluff, is a McNeese graduate and president of the AHS Louisiana chapter.
