Banners at McNeese Offers Free Documentary Screening

March 13, 2019 | McNeese Public Relations
A Celtic Pilgrimage Poster

A free documentary
screening, “A Celtic Pilgrimage With John O’Donohue,” will be presented featuring
the inspirational Irish poet, philosopher and theologian, John O’Donohue,  at 3 p.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, in Stokes
Auditorium of Hardtner Hall as part of the 2019 Banners at McNeese State University
Cultural Season.

The late John O’ Donohue was born into the majestic windswept
landscape of County Clare, western Ireland. As a student of literature, poetry,
philosophy and theology, O’Donohue developed a lifelong
reverence for nature, mysticism and creativity. After 20 years committed to
serving in the Catholic church, he left the priesthood to continue his work
spreading messages of passion, divinity, creativity and the power of the human
mind and heart.

His writing led him to be a sought-after teacher, best-selling
author, internationally acclaimed orator and esteemed advocate for social
justice. This intimate cinematic portrait will be followed by a spirited
discussion about the Celtic imagination and its interweavings with O’Donohue
and his legacy.
