Banners at McNeese Hosts Red Hot Chilli Pipers

Scotland’s own Red Hot Chilli Pipers, the most famous bagpipe band on the planet, take the stage at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, in McNeese State University’s historic F.G. Bulber Auditorium as part of the 2019 Banners Cultural Season.

The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, formed in 2002, bring a dynamic, fun-filled show everywhere they go, which has included global-scale stages such as The Olympics, Formula 1 Racing and the Rugby World Cup, where they performed in support of the Scottish team.

The Pipers’ sound is a fusion of traditional pipe tunes mixed with sing-along anthems from a wide range of favorite artists such as the White Stripes, Queen, The Who, Coldplay and AC/DC. Their unique version of Avicci’s hit song, “Wake Me Up,” went viral, receiving over 3.5 million views on YouTube.

Two-time winners of Scotland’s “Live Act of the Year” at the Trad Music Awards, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers also took 2007’s top prize on the BBC prime time talent show, “When Will I Be Famous?” The band claims legendary fans like Ewan McGregor, Samuel L. Jackson and Sir Paul McCartney.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for students under 18, and free for McNeese and Sowela students with current IDs.
