The National Weather Service is monitoring two tropical storms that are projected to be in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Tropical Depression 14 is projected to strengthen this weekend and be named Tropical Storm Marco. It could become a category 1 hurricane before it makes landfall on Monday or Tuesday.

The current projected path bring this storm has it making landfall along the Texas-Louisiana boarder. That puts it very close to us in Southwest Louisiana.

Tropical Storm Laura is moving into the eastern Gulf of Mexico and could impact Louisiana early next week.

It is very important for you to make personal and work plans now to prepare for potential weather-related issues including power outages.

McNeese officials are closely monitoring these storms and participating in National Weather Service briefings. We will send updated information as it is available.

Monitor your McNeese email, the McNeese website and local news and weather for updates and guidance.
