Lesson Overview: This 7th grade lesson is inspired by Lesson 32 of the Guidebook unit Christmas Carol. We will cover the R.A.C.E.S. strategy – 5 steps for a constructed response. We will also read the short story, “The Gift of the Magi” by O.Henry. The student will analyze the author’s use of description and setting and its impact on characterization using R.A.C.E.S. to respond to a constructed response question.
