Rather than owing the entirety of your tuition and fees at the beginning of the semester, a payment plan allows you to break up tuition and other costs into smaller amounts and pay throughout the semester. For many students, this type of plan makes budgeting and paying for college easier.

Nelnet is the company that McNeese uses to process online payments and installment plan contracts. If you’ve ever made an online quick payment at McNeese, you’ve already utilized the Nelnet system.

Here are the basics.

• You will need to enter verification information and a PIN to set up your account. Save your PIN in a secure place.
• You will need to provide a bank account or credit card for Nelnet to draft your payments.
• For fall and spring semesters, you will now have 4 total payments instead of 3 – an initial down payment plus 3 additional payments – this helps students spread their payments over the semester and reduce each payment.
• For Spring 2023, the down payment is paid at the time of entering into the plan and payments are due on 2/15/23, 3/15/23, and 4/15/23.
• Summer term will remain 2 payments.

The down payment is your first payment plus a $30 enrollment fee. This must be paid at the time the payment plan is set up so make sure you are ready to make the payment before setting up plan.

At the time the plan is set up, all 4 payments will show. The down payment plus the $30 fee will be shown before any payment is initiated.

All payments will be auto-drafted on the due dates via the method selected at the time the plan is initiated. Nelnet will send notifications prior to initiating payments. Automated payments eliminate the need to remember to make manual payments and avoids late fees and Registration/Transcript holds for missed/late payments.
The Fall 2023 semester payment dates are 9/15/23, 10/15/23, and 11/15/23.

Any changes in tuition/fees due to enrollment changes (adding/dropping classes) will be automatically adjusted and reflected on the payment plan amounts due within 24 hours of the change.

No, financial aid awards cannot be used as the initial/down payment.

If there is aid awarded that will pay a portion of the total charges, the partial aid will be applied toward the account balance and the plan will be set up on the remaining balance due after aid.

Example: If the charges are $4,500 and your aid is $2,500 the remaining balance due is $2,000.
The payment plan payments would be as follows:

#1 due at time of plan setup $500 + $30 enrollment fee
#2 draft 2/15/23 $500
#3 draft 3/15/23 $500
#4 draft 4/15/23 $500

Yes, Bookstore PTA charges will be included in the payment plan. If you do not set up a Nelnet payment plan, Bookstore PTA charges will be due at the date determined by the Bookstore, usually to coincide with the final Payment Plan Date for the semester. For the Spring 2023 semester, this date is 4/15/2023.

Students will be able to enter into payment plans and see their installment amounts immediately, instead of waiting for an emailed contract that has to be signed and returned.

This service is available 24-hours a day and Nelnet offers customer support.

Students can log in and review their plans at any time.

No, enrolling is entirely up to you. If you decide not to enroll, your tuition and other fees will be due at the beginning of the semester. Bookstore PTA charges will be due at the date determined by the Bookstore.
