On Thursday, Feb. 1, The Women and Gender Studies Lecture Series will offer a self-defense class for women. Associate Professor of English Dr. Wendy Whelan-Stewart, who holds a second-degree black belt in Shotokan Karate, will guide participants in practical self-defense techniques. Her goal is to share her knowledge with women so they can break free of behaviors that do not serve them, but others. With practice, they may be able to “hold their own.”
Participate in this free, interactive presentation 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with a light lunch will follow. It will be in the McNeese Recreation Center in rooms 201 and 202. Please note the change from the usual day of the week and venue.
The Women and Gender Lecture Series is sponsored by a Juliet Hardtner Endowed Professorship for Women.
