
Piano and Guitar Concert

The W.A. and Dorothy Hanna Department of Performing Arts presents Dr. Lina Morita, associate professor of piano, and Dr. Jay Kacherski, instructor of guitar, in concert on Tuesday, March 26 in Tritico Theater. This free concert will include solo piano works by Claude Debussy and Franz Liszt and guitar by Kevin Callahan and Steve Howe. It will also feature two premieres: a new solo piano work and a new duo piano and guitar work by the Brazilian Grammy-nominated composer, Clarice Assad.
Dr. Lina Morita has performed as a soloist and a collaborative pianist throughout the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, France and the Czech Republic. The latest CD, Landscapes, with husband and guitarist Jay Kacherski was released by Frameworks Records in the Fall of 2022.
Dr. Jay Kacherski has performed around the world as a soloist and a member of the Grammy-nominated Texas Guitar Quartet. He is a Fulbright Scholar whose debut solo album Synthesis: 20th &21st Century Guitar Music from Mexico has been hailed as a “brilliant album” and “one of the finest guitar solo recordings of recent years” by the leading guitar magazine, Soundboard.
